Drew Brandt Obituary

Lieutenant Colonel Drew Max Brandt United States Army Retired, age 73, of Vine Grove, KY, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. 

Drew was born on April 30, 1946, in Salt Lake City, UT to Max and Helen Brandt.  In 1970, he joined the United States Army serving over 22 years of active duty with 18 of those years spent overseas. He even chose to work for the military in a civilian capacity.  Drew has had a decorated career; he was awarded the Legion of Merit amongst numerous other accolades.

Traveling was a special part of Drew’s life; he was known to send a postcard to every family member from everywhere he traveled and had a love for language and culture.  He truly enjoyed the company of people whether it was refereeing soccer games or entertaining family and friends. He was fond of art, particularly sculptures, which he collected in addition to collecting coins, stamps, and nativities.

Drew is survived by his loving wife, Yong Ran “Sharon” Brandt; five children, Lynn (Paul) Brellenthin, Heidi (Charlie) Eichner, Dirk Max (Jodi) Brandt, Kevin Max (Madison) Brandt, and Kyle Max Brandt; six grandchildren, Kelse, Brittany, Collin, Bailey, Sydney, and Owen Max; five great-grandchildren, Ava, Kaiden, Rayan, Addison, and Caleb; his brother, Craig Max (Jean) Brandt; and many other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, Drew was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan; and his brother, Clarke Max.

Funeral Services in remembrance of Drew will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020, at 9:30 am, at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St. West Bend, WI 53095).  The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 am until the time of service at 9:30. Burial with military honors will be at 12:00 pm (noon) in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Park in Union Grove, WI. Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service of West Bend has been entrusted with Drew’s arrangements.
