Dorothy D. Clayton

Dorothy Dovan “Dottie” Clayton (nee Hanners), age 70, of Mayville, completed her journey on earth on Friday, May 26, 2017 with her loving daughter by her side.

Dottie was born on September 7, 1946 in Miami, West Virginia to the late Everett L. and Edna M. (nee Lovejoy) Hanners.  As a young teen, Dottie moved with her family to Chicago where she raised her two children. 

Dottie enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.  She had a great sense of humor with a goal to make at least one person smile every day.  She would joke that she was going to become a “sit down” comedian because she couldn’t stand up. 

Those Dottie leaves behind to cherish her memory include her two children, Karen “Sissy” Doyle of Mayville and Joseph (Regina) Doyle of Schererville, Indian; four grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Thomas Doyle, Amanda Doyle, and Katelyn Doyle; three great-grandchildren, Catra Johnson and William and Alexander Wilkinson-Johnson; a sister, Jeanette Lebryk; a brother, Ernest (Judy) Hanners; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by the love of her life, Dennis E. Clayton.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Arthur “Art” Hanners.

A memorial in remembrance of Dottie will be held at a later date.

She seeing that life goes on.  Even though our physical being might not be there, our energy is flowing through the clouds like looking in a telescope and we still see…as life goes on.
