David D. Jones

David D. Jones, age 92, of West Bend, WI, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at The Cottages at Cedar Run.

David was born on June 10, 1926 in Taylorville, IL to the late William and Mary (nee Dougherty) Jones.  He graduated from Taylorville High School in June of 1944 and was part of the first undefeated state basketball championship team.  He went on to serve his country honorably during WWII by enlisting in the United States Navy. 

Following his discharge, David went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Beloit College and a master’s degree in educational administration from UW Milwaukee.   Throughout his career David was an administrator at Shorewood High School, Homestead High School and Platteville High School. 

David was united in marriage to Suzanne Helgren on December 20, 1951 at Lake Park Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI.  Suzanne preceded him in death on April 1, 2010.  David enjoyed golf, tennis, basketball, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

David is lovingly remembered by his children, Holly (Tom) Stanfield of Lake Geneva, David (Barbara) Jones of Shorewood, Timothy (Pam) Jones of Racine, and Andrew (Susan) Jones of Kiel; grandchildren, Amy Stanfield, David (Jennifer) Jones, Stuart (Emily) Jones, Christopher Jones, Daniel Jones, Jennifer Jones, and Brian Jones; and great-grandchildren, Liam Jones, Cora Jones, Owen Jones, and Trace Jones.

In addition to his wife, David was preceded in death by his brother, William Jones; and his sister, Mary Ann McNamara.

A Memorial Mass in remembrance of David will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 3:00 pm at St. James Episcopal Church (148 S. 8th Ave. West Bend, WI 53095).  Friends and relatives are invited to gather at the church on Saturday from 2:30 pm until 3:00 pm for a celebration of life through music.
