Dear Myrhum Family,

I know it is now almost two years since Chuck passed. I learned of his passing about a year ago when my sister passed away. At that time I expected to see Chuck as there was no one else in Wisconsin I would look to not just for funeral services but for the kind of service Chuck provided. I am not well versed in funeral service arrangement - although time is forcing more of that experience on me - but when my parents passed (my father James Burnett in 2006 and my mother Eda Perantoni Burnett in 2009) Chuck was there and somehow made us feel better immediately. He had a kind spirit and a simple honest caring for people, so entrusting dad and mom to him was easy. And he went the extra 1,000 miles, literally. My parents were originally from Vermont. Dad was buried in the Veteran's Cemetery in Randolph, VT. (It is truly a beautiful place. I do not get there often as I live in Maine, but when I do I sit with Pops and enjoy the view.) My mother wanted to be buried with her parents in their family mausoleum in Hope Cemetery in Barre, VT. Barre is where many granite quarries are located and where many granite artists carved exceptionally beautiful and in some cases elaborate monuments. Hope Cemetery became famous for some of the truly unique monuments that are found there representing the many of those artists. Chuck personally drove my mother's remains to Barre for her internment at a small family grave-side service in 2010. He didn't have to do that but he did and it was comforting having him there. We interned my mother in the Perantoni mausoleum with her mother and father who were both from northern Italy. (for personal reasons this was important to my mother and my father knew this is what she wanted and was fine with it.) We then went an interned dad who had been cremated and we found a company in Canada that made internment vessels using hollowed out ice curling stones. Chuck thought that was great. He joined us for dad's internment service at the Veteran's Cemetery, complete with honor guard. (Dad was a WWII veteran who served for 2 years in Europe.) Chuck was making a trip of this trip east. He wanted to see some of the places and sights he heard about but had not seen. So we talked about where to go go and what to see. I remember talking with him and telling him about Fort Ticonderoga (a Revolutionary War fort on the southern end of Lake Champlain) and the story of the fort's capture. I also told him about Saratoga, NY where our family lived and its great history of horse racing, naturals springs and the arts. When I waved good-bye to Chuck that beautiful day in 2010 he was on his way to those places and others on his trip back home to West Bend. I hope he enjoyed them. I never heard. I did not visit WI for many years and when my sister passed I was actually looking forward to seeing Chuck and catching up with him and finding out about his impressions of the places he visited. I was truly saddened and disappointed when my brother-in-law told me Chuck had passed away. I hope he took some pictures and shared some stories with you about what he saw. I hope it was an enjoyable return trip for him. He was an exceptional man who found his "calling" and he helped make people's lives better and to overcome their grief through his personal touch and interest in everyone he helped. I could not thank him enough for all his support and going the extra 1,000 miles. I am not sure what brought this to my mind today. It is not the anniversary of anything but something made me think of Chuck and looking up his obituary. Besides my thanks to Chuck I offer my sincere condolences to his family with a very heart felt wish for your good health and happiness.
Sincerely,
Scott Burnett (son of James and Eda Burnett, and brother of Nina (Burnett) Radcliffe)

Chuck and I were in the same class in high school, 1970, the last class to graduate from the original West Bend High School. Though we lost touch through the years, we occasionally ran into each other when I came to visit in the West Bend area. My dad, Wilbur Frey, knew Chuck's dad, Ole, back in the day. Chuck took good care of so many of our family members who passed as the years went by. He was always so kind, so accommodating, and seemed always to remember a personal detail about the deceased, that meant so much to our family. Chuck will be greatly missed.

I was very saddened to learn of Chuck's passing. Since he was in my late brother Andy's class, I've known Chuck his entire life. When he was a cub scout, I was his den chief. It's ironic that scout meetings at our house were next door to where Debbi, the woman he would marry, grew up. In recent years, I felt very fortunate to have a friend like Chuck handling our family funeral and cemetery arrangements. I hope Chucks son Matt will offer us the same security and support his father and grandfather always did.

I'll miss you Chuck.

My condolences and sharing of the joy of resurrection in Jesus to your family. I served at St. John's for nine years, and worked with and talked with and laughed with Chuck many times. Not only was he one of the most wonderful people I've ever known, but he was also a selfless, sacrificial man who always thought of others first. He buried my mother and father, and when the casket my parents had picked out was not available for my mother, he searched until he found one in Canada and had it shipped to West Bend. He, of course, never told me this. I found out about it later. When my daughter died tragically last year, we could think of no one else whom we would want to handle everything. What an amazing person!
Thanks to everyone who put together the beautiful video ... since I was unable to attend the funeral, it was wonderful to be able to relive some of those memories with you. May God bless you all and give your great comfort in knowing that we have a Savior who assures that we will see Chuck again!

I have many fond memories of Charlie from our years together studying at UW- Milwaukee to be accountants that would really make a difference in this world and we did. I will always remember his laughter and how we worked so hard to solve accounting questions and learn together. We spent many hours in the library and a few in the Gasthaus after exams. He touched the lives of many and will always be my friend. Charlie is looking down on us now wondering how he could still make us laugh just one more time!

To Chuck's personal and professional family:
It has been an honor and pleasure to have known and worked with Chuck and his Father before him for over thirty-seven years. Chuck would proudly and with sensitivity and pride give our Confirmation classes tours of the home and explain nicely the role of a funeral director. He always was gracious and compassionate to the many families he and I ministered to in their greatest hour of need. It was to him and his professional staff that I turned to for both my parents funerals. I served with Chuck on several community boards and enjoyed his personal friendship as well. My sympathy and prayers to his immediate family and to his professional family. We will pray for all of you in worship this Sunday. May God's grace, peace and healing love be with all of you ..Chuck will be deeply missed..Thankyou for sharing him with us..

Please accept the condolences of the St. John's worship community of which Chuck served so faithfully over the years - overseeing hundreds of funerals. Many of our families have been blessed by his care and personable attention to details. We will miss his valued friendship, and we pray that God will bring peace and joy to the family as, together, we await the glorious day of Christ's return. Christ is risen!
