Carol (Klemens) Dirkx

Carol Dirkx (nee Klemens), 87, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018.  She was born May 26, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI to Steve and Lucille Klemens.  She married Albert Dirkx on September 2, 1950 in Milwaukee, WI and moved to Harrison, WI in 1961 where they began farming and raising their nine children.

Carol was known for her creativity and loved to share it with others.  She expressed her creative spirit through cooking, storytelling, letter writing and making unique and elaborate gifts for people she cared about.   She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and many other crafts as well as talking and visiting with people.  She was an avid bargain shopper and enjoyed shopping for hidden treasures. 

Those that Carol leaves behind to cherish her memory include her 9 children, Johanna (Pat) Scanlan of Ham Lake, MN; Andrea (Joe) Pintens of West Bend, WI; Donna Dirkx of Minneapolis, MN; Peter (Tracy) Dirkx of Sugar Camp, WI; Valerie Dirkx of Fitchburg, WI;  Kelly (Bill) Towle of West Bend, WI; Natalie (Rick) Townsend of Sturgeon Bay, WI; Jessica (Brad) Howard of Rosemount, MN;  and Amy (Sean) Rorich of Matthews, NC; her 23 grandchildren, Zachary Scanlan; Kyra Scanlan; Craig (Jill) Pintens; Jill (Aaron)Smith; Megan (Miles) Conrad; Scott (Jamie) Pintens;  Damian Hanft; Danielle Hanft; Dominic Hanft; Kaylan (Sheila) Dirkx, Amanda (Lucas) Kinyon; Casey Dirkx; Harrison Grittinger; Riley Grittinger; Jessica (Josh) Rasmussen; Abram (Ashley) Towle; Eli (Ali) Towle; Nathan (Stephanie) Towle; Sierra Townsend; Savanna Townsend; Eli Howard; Aspen Howard; and Kiley Rorich; 15 great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jack, Tate and Avery Pintens; Wyatt, Elli, and Addison Smith; Nora, Jules and Molly Pintens; Jovi and Garner Kinyon; Ila Dirkx; Hazel and Arlo Rasmussen; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; sisters, Anita Loyd; Marcy Grunfelder; and Nancy Lindon; brother, Tom Klemens; sister-in-law, Shirley Klemens; and brothers-in-law Bob Grunfelder and Lowell Lindon.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church (N10090 County Road B, Tomahawk, WI 54487).
