Steve J. Citta, 92, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum.
Steve was born on July 16, 1924, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Dominic and Josephine (Pecoraro) Citta. On August 9, 1945, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Loose in Denver, Colorado. Gertrude preceded Steve in death on June 12, 2006.
Steve proudly served his country as a Corporal in the AAF (Army Air Force) from 1943 - 1946. He worked alongside his father in the shoe repair business, later owning his own shoe repair shop in Milwaukee, WI. until he retired at 62. Steve had many hobbies and especially enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, painting pictures and making model airplanes.
Those Steve leaves behind to cherish his memory include six children, Carol (John Jr.) Schell of West Bend, Danny Citta of Gainesville, TX, Rick Citta of Medellin, Columbia, Paul Citta of Edgerton, Patrick (Lisa) Citta of San Antonio, TX, and Greg (Jeanette) Citta of Ball Ground, GA; 17 grandchildren, John Schell III, Jamie (John) Klesmith, Mary (Pat) Henson, John Citta, Todd Citta, Matt Citta, Kevin Citta, Tom (Libby) Citta, Jennifer (Steven) Slak, Lori Beth (Ben) Martin, Dominic Citta, Kristi (Jamie) Johnson, Michelle (Christopher) Hyatt, Christian (fiancé - Joan) Citta, Abrianna Citta, Catherine Citta & Joseph Citta; many great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Joyce Loose of McFarland, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Steve was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Bartolotta, Mary Kent and Nina Ferrito; two sisters-in-law, Florence Krentz and Alice Schrank and a brother-in-law, Milton Loose.
Funeral services for Steve will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes, 1315 W. Washington Street, in West Bend. Steve’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
