Welcome to the memorial page for

Mary Ann "Molly" (Horton) Chlupp

April 4, 1943 ~ July 27, 2015 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Mary Ann “Molly”  Chlupp, (nee Horton)  age 72, of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, West Bend.

She was born on April 4, 1943 in Kansas City, MO to the late Lyman and Katharine (nee Kline) Horton. After completing her high school education, Molly attended Beloit College earning a BA Degree in Sociology. It was at Beloit College that Molly met the love of her life, Fred Chlupp, and they were united in marriage on October 9, 1965 in Evanston, IL. Molly then attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee earning a Master’s Degree in special education.

Molly taught special education for the Oconomowoc School System for three years. In 1972 Fred and Molly moved to West Bend, and Molly became a substitute teacher for the West Bend School System while raising her children. In 1980 Molly became teacher and soon also director for the YMCA’s preschool program. A position she held for 25 years. Molly truly viewed the children and parents that she served, along with the staff of the YMCA as an extension of her family.

During her retirement years Molly enjoyed seeing the world, both here and abroad. She learned from different cultures, taking something from each place to make her own, but her favorite place has always been home. Different hobbies also kept her life fun, and spending time with her granddaughters was a true joy. Molly remarked that her life “Has been a wonderful adventure.”

She is survived by her husband, Fred; two children, Katharine “Kat” (Nick) Trago, and Chris (Heidi) Chlupp, both of West Bend; three granddaughters, Ally Sixty, Sydney Chlupp, and Kennedy Chlupp; a sister, Katharine (John Corbett) Minnihan of Bloomington, MN; two brothers-in-law, John Chlupp of Reddington Shores, FL, and Chris Chlupp of Jacksonville, FL; a nephew, Paul Minnihan; other relatives and many friends.

Molly was preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Katharine; and a nephew, Peter Minnihan

Favorite memories of Molly will be shared on Monday August 3rd at 7:00 pm at the Myrhum – Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St.) West Bend. Visitation at the same location will preceed this celebration of Molly's life begining at 4:00 pm.

Molly felt her care and the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital were exquisite, but wished the parking or transportation services were better for someone in her condition. Memorials made to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation on Molly’s behalf will go toward accomplishing her wish.
