Joe was such a wonderful man. I worked with him for many years at the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO. He was my boss but more so a good friend to me. He treated me fairly and like a part of his greater family. It was so good to see him at my retirement party. Since moving up north a year after I retired, I was not able to see him. He will be greatly missed. I will always remember his great smile, warm sense of humor and genuine concern for others. What a great guy!

To the Gruber family, I am saddened by your loss. I had several conversations with Joe, when he was a resident at KM Gardens in Kewaskum, as I finished music performances there. I found him to be friendly, conversational, and in very good spirits. I will miss chatting with him.
