Horst "Dusty" E. Lange

March 25, 1923 ~ September 1, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Horst “Dusty” Lange, 94, found peace and entered Eternal Life on Friday, September 01, 2017.

He was born on March 25, 1923 to the late Paul and Erna (nee Klar) Lange in Legnitz, Germany. He came to the United States in 1925 and settled in Michigan and later in Milwaukee, WI. Dusty honorably served his county during World War II in the United States Navy earning 2 Purple Hearts. On February 20, 1948, he was united in marriage to Florence Scharmer in Milwaukee. Dusty was a former member of the Barton Sportsman’s Club and was a long-time volunteer at Kathy Hospice, known as the “Bird Man”. He liked hunting, fishing, dog training, and field trials. Dusty enjoyed water skiing on Big Cedar and Twin Placid Lake up north. Dusty also enjoyed roller skating and often was a judge at dancing and racing competitions. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Those Dusty leaves behind to cherish his memory are his three children, Russell (Jean) Lange, Mary (Mark) Kirchner, and Kim (Dan) Dewey; ten grandchildren, Brad (Velvet) Lange, Shelly (Dean) Urmanski, Chad (Dawn) Hron, Tricia (Art) Buechler, Krista (Jason) Staral, Ashley (Zach Block) Kirchner, Zachery Kirchner, Mikayla (Jake Neuenfeld) Kirchner, Timothy (McKenna Zeckmeister) Dewey, and Ava Dewey; twelve great grandchildren, Hunter, Hailey, Max, Jack, Cordell, Bryanna, Landon, Delaney, Calla, Brooke, Addison, and Blake; a son-in-law, Larry Nehrbass; other relatives and many good friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Florence; two daughters, Patricia Lemke and Deborah Nehrbass; a grandson, Keith Hron; a brother, Gunter; and a sister, Anneliese Lange.

Private family services in honor of Dusty were held with Rev. David Schoob officiating, and entombment took place in Washington County Memorial Park.
