Grace J. (Raabe) Forbes

Grace J. Forbes, 82, of West Bend, was called home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk with her family by her side.

Grace was born on April 29, 1933, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late George and Meta (nee Scholtz) Raabe.  On April 28, 1956 she was united in marriage to Wesley Forbes at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.

Grace was a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane.  She served as the president of the Lutheran Church Women for many years and was a member of the Lutheran Women Missionary League.  Grace was also one of the three musketeers which included her best friends Alta and Carla.

Those Grace leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 59 years, Wesley; three children, Jeffrey (Karen) Forbes of Niagara, Gregory Forbes of Brookfield and Terri (Scott) Walters of Ixonia; seven grandchildren, Mary (Jeff) Henderson, Sarah (Weston) Gill, Matthew Forbes, Rachel Forbes, Amber (Rob) Lorge, Kyle and Keith Walters; two great-grandchildren, Jase Henderson and McKenna Lorge; two brothers, William Raabe and Charles Raabe; three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Raabe, Joan Raabe and Lou Raabe; best friends, Alta Muencho and Carla Bretzman, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers; Richard Raabe, Tom Raabe and George Raabe and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Raabe and Ruth Raabe.

Funeral Services for Grace will be held at Noon on Monday, November 16, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane.  Rev. Mark Eckert will officiate and inurnment will take place on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.

The Forbes family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John Lutheran Church are appreciated.
