Gertrude L. (Soeller) Wondra

August 28, 1924 ~ September 8, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Gertrude L. “Gertie” Wondra, nee Soeller, 93, of Lomira, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Hope Health & Rehabilitation Center in Lomira surrounded by her family.

She was born in the Town of Ashford on August 28, 1924, the daughter of Frank and Lucy (nee Fell) Soeller.  She attended St. Martin’s School in Ashford.  Gertrude married Alvin C. Wondra on April 11, 1945 at St. Martin’s Church in Ashford.  Alvin preceded her in death in 2002.

Gertrude was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Lomira and the Lomira Senior Citizens.  She worked at Herpst Shoe Factory and Star Canning Company in Lomira.  She also worked at Regal Ware in Kewaskum for many years where she was a member of the 25 Year Club.  Gertrude had a passion for quilting, loved playing Sheepshead, bowling, canning and spending countless hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gertrude is survived by one son, Robert “Bob” (Marie) Wondra of Lomira; six daughters, Eunice (Randy) Seering of Mayville, Caroline “Jean” (Daniel) Feucht of Lomira, Shirley (Kenny) Thorn of Campbellsport, Evelyn (Joe) Flasch of Campbellsport, Kathy (Greg) Mueller of Lomira, and Donna Bader of West Bend.  She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, Bobbi (Don) Doyle, Troy (Heidi) Wondra, Becky (Dennis) Doyle, Ricky Seering, Vicky Boerst, Jeanna Seering, Jamie (Julie) Feucht, Jason Feucht, Jackie (Dan) Ulmen, Jess (Jessica) Feucht, Tim (Bridget) Thorn, Tommy Thorn, Tony (fiancée Stephanie Hussar) Thorn, Jacob (Tracy) Flasch, Jodie (Jeremy) Ksioszk, Brad (Colleen) Flasch, Keith (Jenni) Flasch, Todd Mueller, Kari Mueller, and Adam Bader; 29 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Janice Wondra; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gertrude was preceded in death by two sisters, Angeline (George) Mitchell and Marie (Bernard) Wondra; nine brothers-in-law, Bernard Wondra, Joseph Wondra, Edgar Wondra, George Mitchell, Roy Margelofsky, Claude Stommel, Lambert Wondra, Francis Wondra, and Herbert Hundt; and four sisters-in-law, Alice Hundt, Adeline Margelofsky, Joyce Wondra, and Frieda Stommel.

A Mass of Christian Burial in remembrance of Gertrude will be held on Tuesday, September 12 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 699 Milwaukee St., Lomira, with Rev. Michael Petersen officiating.  The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.  Entombment will be at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Hope Health & Rehabilitation Center in Lomira and Agnesian Health Care Hospice for the wonderful care and concern shown Gertrude and the entire family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hope Health & Rehabilitation Center and Agnesian Health Care Hospice.
