Cyrilla Alma (Vogt) Thull

Cyrilla A. (nee Vogt) Thull, 91, of the town of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Cedar Lake Health and Rehab in West Bend.

She was born on May 2, 1926, in the town of West Bend, the daughter of the late Nick and Helena (nee Jansen) Vogt, and on October 18, 1947, she was united in marriage to William F. “Bill” Thull at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend.  Bill preceded Cyrilla in death on July 16, 2014.

Cryilla was a hard working farm wife who came from the generation that went through the Great Depression and the Second World War and went from kerosene lanterns to computers. With her husband Bill she experienced the joys and challenges of farm life and of raising a large family. Along with working on the farm she worked at Pick Manufacturing, Schloemer Law Office, and Cedar Lake Community. 

Cryilla was a long time member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Christian Women’s Club, Homemakers Club, Farm Bureau, 4H-Leader, and an officer for Catholic Foresters.

In her free time Cryilla enjoyed playing sheepshead with her family, gardening, canning, attending her grandchildren’s activities, and baking her famous apple slices.   She was a big promoter of her husbands, children’s, and grandchildren’s bands and music. Cyrilla’s family and extended family will remember her get it done attitude, feistiness, devotion to family, love for her family’s polka music, and to her Catholic faith.

Those Cyrilla leaves behind to cherish her memory include five children, Kathleen (David) Wagner, Michael (Connie) Thull and Ralph (Mary Lou) Thull all of Kewaskum, Eileen (Robert) Kuether of Manitowoc and Denis (Wendy) Thull of Kewaskum; 14 grandchildren, Deanna (Roger) Schmidt, Julie (Dave) Steger, Nicholas Wagner, Joyce (Brady) Bailo, Lynn Thull, Randy (Ashley) Thull, Michelle (Dan) Jerabek, Melissa (Nathan) Rank, Russell (Megan) Thull, Marcia (fiancé Adam Socha) Thull, Cindy (Andrew) Scharenbroch, Mark Kuether, Jared (fiancé Dawn Wagner) Thull, and Kayli Thull; 20 great-grandchildren, Vanessa Schwake, Jillian Schwake, and Rodee Schmidt, Jonathan and Dillan Steger, Ryan, Ashlyn, Angelena, and Reeve Thull, Johnny and Emma Rank, Shaylee, Maria, and Bo Jerabek, William and Nora Thull, Natalie, Benjamin, Elliott, and Sam Scharenbroch, and a great-grandchild due in October; a sister, Catherine (Jack) Weninger of Slinger; a sister-in-law, Ann Thill of Kewaskum, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Cyrilla was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen (Harvey) Oelhafen, Therese (John) Oelhafen, and Eleanor (Edwin) Ihlenfeld and three brothers, Clarence Vogt, Carl (Helen) Vogt, and Denis (Marian) Vogt.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Cyrilla will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 8883 Forest View Road Kewaskum, WI 53040.  Reverend Edwin Kornath will officiate and burial will follow on Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the parish cemetery.

The Thull family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Michael Catholic Church or a charity of your choice are appreciated.

The Thull family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Cedar Lake Community Staff, and Cedar Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to their mother.
