Charlotte C. Stube

Charlotte C. Leins Stube of Fort Myers, FL and West Bend, WI died peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2015 at the age of 94.

Mrs. Stube was born in Milwaukee on September 6, 1920, the loving daughter of William and Rose (nee Wiskirchen) Leins. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1938 and Lawrence College, Appleton, WI in 1942. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority.

She married George H. Stube on December 30, 1950 at Fifth Ave. United Methodist Church, West Bend. George passed away in 1990.

After her professional Girl Scout training in Oberlin, Ohio she became a field director for the Green Bay, De Pere and Two Rivers Councils. She was responsible for leadership training, Day, Troop and Established Camping. She later became director of the West Bend-Barton Council and later, also the Hartford Council. After her marriage, Mrs. Stube was a troop leader and neighborhood chairman for a newly organized Girl Scout Council which included Washington and Fond du Lac Counties. Her love of scouting was passed on to two grandsons who achieved Boy Scout Eagle Scout Rank.

Mrs. Stube and her husband traveled extensively throughout the world and enjoyed sharing their experiences with their travelogues. A highlight of Mrs. Stube's life was the opportunity to direct the University of Wisconsin's band during a "Fifth" Quarter in Madison. Her grandson, Billy Stube, was playing in the band for the first time that day too.

Mrs. Stube was very interested in the genealogy of her family and spent a great deal of time researching and cataloging information. She and her husband were even able to interview a distant cousin from East Germany for family history. She enjoyed being a volunteer docent at the Washington County Historical Society.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church. While in Florida, she was involved in golf, various clubs and activities.

Mrs. Stube is survived by her loving family: William (Carol) Stube of Wales, George Stube of Milwaukee, Barbara Stube of Denver, CO, son-in-law, Mark S. Gempeler of Waukesha. Her beloved daughter, Charla Gempeler passed away in 2008.

She was the very proud grandmother of Billy Stube of Lafayette, CO, Stephen Gempeler of Washington, DC, Matthew Gempeler of Washington, DC, Christine English of Englewood, CO, Laurel Levihn of Centennial, CO, Jeffery Levihn of Loveland, CO; Also great grandmother of Bryce & Isabella English of Englewood, CO.

Mrs. Stube's family and friends loved her dearly and will miss her very much.

A very special thank you to the loving caregivers of Cedar Community for all of the special efforts made to make her part of their personal family for the last 5 years.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 1:30 pm. Private family burial will follow in Union Cemetery, West Bend.

Memorials to the Washington County Historical Society, Cedar Community or Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church are appreciated.
